SDCC2 seals a convincing away win!

June 20, 2011
SDCC2 won the toss and elected to field.

Ventura – 213/9 in 45 overs (Praveen 8-1-20-3, Haroon 4-1-15-2, Suneel 9-1-32-1, Vishal 9-1-43-1, Shayan 9-1-53-1, Achal 6-0-37-1)
lost to
SDCC2 – 214/5 in 39.5 overs (Vishal 57 (39b, 8X4), Hilal 56* (70b, 8X4), Jitu 45 (66b, 6X4), Achal 20 (33b, 1X4), Vidhyashankar 12* (14b, 2X4)
by 5 wickets.

SDCC2 started off very tight with quick wickets. Excellent bowling spell by Suneel and Praveen. Suneel kept it so tight and beat on more than probably 20 occasions but was unfortunate to get a wicket. Praveen also bowled well and got 2 early wickets. Haroon replaced Suneel and immediately got into action with 2 quick wickets. Ventura were 36/4 at one stage and then 77/5, but Prabhjot getting 4 lives (1 tough chance and 3 easier ones) kept ticking along until Ventura were 119/7 in 31 overs. Prabhjot then cut loose and started punishing the SDCC2 bowlers, but Praveen was brought back into the attack and had Prabhjot caught at Long On by Jatin. 10th wicket partnership played attacking shots and played well to take Ventura past 200 and at in the ended up with 213/9.

SDCC2 needed a stable start to the innings, but Jitu and Hilal had other ideas. Jitu and Hilal scored at a brisk rate with SDCC2 reaching 50 in 9 overs. Both played positive, sensible cricket and kept rotating the strike with occasional boundaries coming along. At the end of 20 overs, SDCC2 were 100/0.In the 21st over, Jitu tried to flick one on the leg, but it went straight to the fine leg fielder. Unfortunately Jitu could not complete his well deserved 50. Achal and Hilal started to build, but unfortunately Hilal had severe cramps that he had to retire hurt. Vishal joined Achal and both had a 75 runs partnership, before Achal got out. Vishal immediately followed playing a confused shot. Score reading 187/3 in 35 overs. Sujith got out cheap and had SDCC2 in a spot of bother when a beauty of a throw had Jatin just short of the 2nd run with score reading 188/5 in 36 overs. Shankar was the new batsman in along with Hilal returning to the crease. SDCC2 still required 27 runs to win and both of them saw SDCC2 through with no hiccups.
